Volunteering at Manitoba Music

Volunteering is a great way to get your feet wet, meet new people, and gain experience. Some of the things we do at Manitoba Music wouldn’t be possible without the generous and greatly appreciated help of our volunteers. Below are the main areas for which Manitoba Music requires the help of volunteers:

Workshops and panels are an integral part of what we do here at Manitoba Music. We bring in industry pros from across Canada and beyond to share their experience and knowledge on an array of music business topics. Workshops run a few times each month in the fall, winter, and spring, and are open both to our members and to the public.

This can be a great way to develop skills in event management, learn more about music business, and network with visiting industry professionals.

Duties include:

Manitoba Music organizes monthly events including Open Mic Nights and a mulit-genre concert series called New Music Night. We are also involved in various other events throughout the year, including Manitoba Music On Ice, Manitoba Live On Canada Day at The Forks, and more.

This can be a great way to learn some of the behind-the-scenes action of concert promotion.

Live Music Listings

Connecting music fans, artists, and venues is an important part of what we do at Manitoba Music. Our online listings and Manitoba Live concert-finding app are a big part of that work. We also keep track of Manitoba artists tours around the globe. Sometimes we need a bit of help tracking down and entering info.

This can be a great way to develop research skills, get to know the live music community, learn more about the activities of local artists, and get a bit of bonus experience with databases.
