About

These days bands have to do it on their own.

Panicland doesn't let a velvet rope get in the way of promoting the band. Using guerrilla tactics - pretending to be celebrities, wearing disguises - Panicland has managed to infiltrate Juno parties, the Much Music Video and SOCAN Awards, as well as multiple exclusive parties where celebrities and industry players hang out.

Panicland is a new breed of music artist emerging from the direct-to-fan internet-based music business model, where bands connect directly to listeners through Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat and new-style festivals like DigiTour.

Manager Glen Willows (Remy Shand, Inward Eye, Ash Koley): “The band showed me this tour called DigiTour with hundreds of bands and performers I'd never even heard of, but kids have.  This is where the next big artists are going to come from.”

This assertive (but polite - this is Canada after all) DIY attitude has put Panicland on the radar of the most influential music business companies in Canada, making inroads in the U.S. with writing trips to Los Angeles and Nashville and co-writing with hitmakers who've worked with Nick Jonas, Carly Rae Jepsen, All Time Low, Metric, Three Days Grace and many others.

They have also garnered the attention of industry pioneers like Barb Sedun (EMI Publishing A&R scout who discovered Sum 41 and many others).

"When Sum 41 delivered their first recordings to us, which later went on to sell millions of copies worldwide, we were ecstatic. I very much see in Panicland the same thing we saw in Sum 41 - super talented songwriters with a great sense of who they are. -Barb Sedun

Not that they're in a hurry to sign on the dotted line with anyone - with over 25,000 Twitter followers, hundreds of thousands of Youtube views and fans all over Canada, they're doing just fine on their own.

The old music industry is dying? No worries - young bands like Panicland are creating a new one!"
