About

Black River Drifters serve up original Americana roots rock, deep dark ghost stories, big harmonies and down-to-earth guitar work — and a must-see live show.

The four-piece from Winnipeg has been winning over festival and club audiences since 2015 and is known for spinning memorable stories into lush, vivid songs with wide appeal.

Following their well-received debut album, BRD spent 2016 playing festivals and clubs in central and eastern Canada, and writing their next album from the road. That album drops in spring of 2017, followed by a series of tour dates.

Recent Accomplishments

Well-received summer 2016 performances at a number of Manitoba festivals (Winnipeg Fringe Festival main stage, Downtown ManyFest, Shine On, Sherbrook Street Festival, etc).

New album in production at Paintbox Studios (Les Jupes, The Magnificent Sevens, Weakerthans, Big Dave MacClean, JP Hoe). Release planned for spring 2017, release to be accompanied by a significant PR campaign.

Video preproduction started for 'Rumble Strips', the first single from the new album.

Consistent airplay on CBC Radio and college radio across Canada.

Co-hosted fundraising show for University of Winnipeg Radio CKUW 95.9 FM.

Regular interviews on college radio.

Debut album release show selected as one of CBC's "Top 5 Things to Do This Weekend", glowing review in Winnipeg Free Press.

Media mentions on music.cbc.ca, Folk Alliance Region West, Americana Music News, Exclaim Magazine, and Twang Nation, the blog of prominent Americana critic Baron Lane, who curates social media for the GRAMMYs.
